We have reached the final stage. Now that you have understood why you must take action, what you must do and how to do it, who will you choose?

Define the criteria for choosing your ideal consultant.

An analogy with other professions will help explain our point of view better.

If someone close to you had to undergo a delicate surgery, would you let a doctor who had just graduated or had little experience in surgery operate on you? Or would it even occur to you to choose a non-graduate 'medical enthusiast' over a doctor?

And tell me, would your priority be to get well or to choose a cheaper doctor and clinic?

If you had to defend yourself in court because your freedom or your economic interests were in danger, would you choose a first-time lawyer or a professional experienced in the very matter being tried?

And tell me: would you choose the cheapest lawyer or the one most likely to win the lawsuit?

These are obvious answers, aren't they?

But if they were really so obvious, how come the same selection criteria are not followed when it comes to financial security, insurance and investments? All too often, people put their trust and wealth in the most appealing website, the most passionate friend (whether stock market, trading or cryptocurrency), the regular bank or the cheapest insurer... only to be disappointed and angry when they really need it.

Look for professionalism, freedom of advice, continuity.

Choosing a consultant with at least 20 years of full-time experience in the field is a good starting point. He should also have already dealt with similar or even more complex situations than yours. Ask him:

  • How long have you been in this profession?
  • Do you do it full-time?
  • Where and with how many clients?
  • In which field do you specialise?
  • What certifications and qualifications do you possess?
  • Can his statements be verified?

Choose an experienced professional advisor and make sure they have access to the best services to protect your long-term interests.
