Especially when travelling to certain countries, for holiday or business, travel health insurance is necessary to cover unexpected medical expenses for the whole family.
In a great many countries, medical care is paid for or the quality of the health services provided is not comparable to that in Italy. In all these cases, to enjoy the holiday you deserve, you need a reliable and comprehensive travel health insurance policy.
The best known case is the United States, where even small and trivial medical interventions can cost thousands of dollars. But the USA is not the only destination at risk of unforeseen health costs: China, Canada, Japan, Thailand and Turkey, for example, have similarly high health costs, and venturing to these countries without travel medical insurance would be an unforgivable frivolity.
Beware then of countries that require travellers to take out health insurance that covers medical expenses and the possible repatriation of the sick person to Italy, under penalty of not granting an entry visa.
These include Cuba, Russia and many countries of the former USSR, Iran, Algeria and, in general, all countries in conflict zones.
Before leaving, it is always recommended to check whether there are any restrictions or travel bans in place.
